I’ve heard many-a-lazy raider say they don’t need to eat or flask. In rando-heroics you even get the pugs that refuse to buff. Without going on a rant about those tards, let me focus on consumables and why THEY DO MATTER.
[Side note: If a raider says he/she doesn't have the gold for flasks or feasts then they simply don't want to raid. It's a requirement and blizzard anticipates us having these buffs as they scale their encounters.]
Lets take a rogue for example and then apply it to a team and a specific boss.
Baleroc: 42,090,000hp
Baleroc requires raid dps of approximately 117000 on normal 10 man to down.
Rogue is 1 of 7 members DPS the boss (MT included)
Baleroc requires raid dps of approximately 117000 on normal 10 man to down.
Rogue is 1 of 7 members DPS the boss (MT included)
This is based on the rogue doing approximately 29k dps after ALL buffs, but the percentages should remain approximately the same.
No flask or feast
Rogue is pumping out: 27,250 dps
Rogue is doing: 23.3 percent of the damage
Rogue is pumping out: 27,250 dps
Rogue is doing: 23.3 percent of the damage
Add flask & feast
Rogue is pumping out: 29,000 dps
Rogue is doing: 24.8 percent of the damage
Rogue is pumping out: 29,000 dps
Rogue is doing: 24.8 percent of the damage
Take those numbers and times them by the other 5 real DPS and you are now doing 7.5% more on the boss. [the math has obviously been simplified to articulate a point]
The jist, if you’re wiping with 7-8 percent left on the boss and you’re not properly using consumables you are just cheating yourself out of earlier kills and further progression (see: less headaches)
The people who don’t want to use these things are the same people that want to scoop even the most lateral of upgrades. In short, tell them if they want loot then they’ll need to come prepared.
